UPDATE: More sad news for the Hudson family. Earlier today, a young African American boy was found dead in the rear seat of the missing vehicle that was part of this case, as well as the Amber Alert.
No word from the Hudson family, but around noon today, five hours after police discovered the body, the family feared the worst and held a candlelight vigil.
Unfortunately, the worst has come true, as moments ago, police identified the body to be Jennifer Hudson’s 7-year-old nephew Julian King.
This is all just so so terrible. Continuous thoughts and prayers go out to the Hudson family.
This is such terrible news…
Actress/singer Jennifer Hudson’s mother Darnell and brother Jason were fatally shot to death last night in her mother’s home in Chicago’s south side. Reports are saying that Jennifer’s sister Julia was the one who found the bodies. And, on top of that, Julia’s 7-year-old son (Jennifer’s nephew) Julian King is missing, and an Amber Alert has been issued for him.
The police said that the shooting appears to be domestic.
William Balfour, a suspect of the double homicide, is in custody, but hasn’t been cooperating with investigators and was not releasing the whereabouts of the 7-year-old boy, who is also his step-son. He hasn’t been charged in the deaths.
Balfour is currently on parole after serving 6 1/2 years for attempted murder. He also has a conviction for possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
Neighbors of Jennifer’s mom were seen grieving outside her house earlier today. “Jennifer always used to beg her mom to get out of that neighborhood, but she owned that house and she would never leave,” said a neighbor.
Another commented, saying, “It was such a nice family. I was shocked that somebody could ever do something like that to such a sweet lady. [Donerson] was quiet, but very nice,” she said. “She kept to herself and stayed in her house a lot.”
However, even though she kept to herself, she was very very friendly. “She hosted a block party for our whole neighborhood a few months back,” the neighbor said. “She provided food and she planned the whole event, she was so nice. She would do anything for anyone.”
My thoughts and prayers go out to Jennifer and her family during this incredibly difficult time.
